About Caddo Parish Schools...
Caddo, with a rich tradition of pride in its schools is aggressively moving forward to meet the needs of all learners. Caddo is home to seven Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence as designated by the U.S. Department of Education. Caddo also boasts top performing schools in the state of Louisiana.
As a school system on the move, Caddo accepts the challenge of being the major architect of an improved city, parish and state. More than 46,000 youngsters, from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade, learn every day from 3,600 teachers and administrators. The system's total staff of 6,600 makes it the largest employer in Caddo Parish. The district budget for all funds is over $350 million.
The system has a total of 73 schools, 5 elementary/ middle schools, 10 middle schools, 11 high schools, and 6 unique schools. Diversity is evident in both student population and school communities. The district covers 889 square miles and encompasses urban centers, suburban neighborhoods, and rural towns and communities.
Caddo Magnet High School Admission Information
Applications to CMHS will be available at Magnet and all middle schools in December. Applications are accepted after the 2 nd 9 weeks/semester report cards come out in the middle of January. Our CMHS Open House is the last Sunday of January (check our calendar). Letters of acceptance are mailed out by the end of February and placement testing (emphasis on course placement, not admission!) the first Saturday in March.
Each applicant must have:
- A 2.5 GPA for the first semester of the 8th grade year or cumulative 2.5 GPA for all semesters of high school if an underclassman.
- A score at or above the 50th percentile on the reading portion of the most recent school administered nationally standardized test.
- A 95% or better attendance rate.
- A good discipline record.
- Taken and passed the English Language Arts and Math components of the LEAP21/GEE21 (given the Spring of the 8th & 10th grade year).
- Attached the latest report card and standardized test scores to their application.
Students not currently enrolled in a Caddo Parish public school must present a copy of their birth certificate, health record, and social security card. An attached letter from the last school attended stating the student's good attendance and discipline record.
